Page Two of Backstage....
Way too many names and faces
to put on one page. Here are some more of the folks Bucky has picked with
and partied with along the way. Some
of whom you'll already know.
Appearing
on Saturday Night Live in 1987 with Roy Orbison as his lead guitarist. Jim "Turbo"
Kirby on keyboards in the background.
From
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1987 where he was appearing with Roy Orbison
"Gertrude" and "Heathcliffe"...
Seriously folks, Bucky with the
comedy great Red Skelton.
John McLaughlin and Bucky backstage
at the Exit/In in Nashville in 1976. Bucky is checking out the totally unique
scalloped fretboard and sympathetic strings. John is a one-of-a-kind player
and a nice guy.
Bucky and Roy onstage having
one of those "sunglasses" kind of day...although their days started
around 8pm and ended when everyonge went home or they went to the next town.
Road life can make one "crispy" around the edges.
What a pair! And "hick-brother" Jimmy
Johnson in the picture as well. Bucky and Jimmy were nicknamed "The Hick-Brothers"
because of their Southern drawl. Marie Osmond was a sweet lady,a great entertainer
and Bucky's "hair idol".
"Show me that lick Hank."
Jammin' with the legend (and Bucky's longtime
friend) Hank Garland in Florida, 1970.
Roy
and Bucky backstage in Chicago with a big fan.....Film Star Dorothy Seka in
1983.
Chet
Atkins and Bucky on the RCA European Tour in 1973.
The "Hick-Brothers"
hanging with the Osmond Brothers backstage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta waiting
to hit the stage. Left to right are Wayne, Bucky, Merrill, Jimmy "Hick"
Johnson and Alan Osmond.
Bucky with legendary Jazz guitar
great and friend Tal Farlow in New York City, 1987. Tal's playing style has
influenced a long line of players for many years.
Where do rock and rollers get
their groceries.... at a grocery store of course. Imagine turning the corner
at Kroger and running into a Rock-n-Roll legend and his band in the deli aisle.
What do big time rockers buy? Popcorn.... Because all the world's a stage...but
the concession stands close at intermission.
A
young Bucky as part of Dottie West' band Cross Country, standing next to a young
Steve Wariner. From left to right... Terry Ryan, Rudy Osborne, Bucky, Steve
Wariner and Byron Allen Metcalf.
On
tour one summer with Roy Orbison and The Beach Boys. Bucky is pictured backstage
with his friend Carl Wilson.
Backstage in Milwaukee with
jazz guitar virtuoso Alan Holdsworth and Bucky, 1987.
Bucky jamming with long time
friend and jazz guitar legend Howard Roberts.
